2024 Teacher Professional Development Opportunities
Code.org Professional Development Overview
CEISMC, in partnership with Code.org, offers in-person professional development workshops for educators across the state of Georgia during the summer. These week-long sessions are designed to empower teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to teach computer science effectively using the K-12 CS curriculum.
Participants will receive hands-on training in one of the following computer science disciplines:
- Computer Science Discoveries (CSD): For middle school teachers
- AP Computer Science Principles (CSP): For high school teachers
- Computer Science Fundamentals (CSF): For elementary school teachers
- Computer Science A (CSA): For advanced high school computer science courses
The cost of the professional development varies, but includes all materials and resources needed for the training. Additionally, Georgia-based middle and high school teachers from high-needs schools (those with over 50% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch) and schools with diverse student populations underrepresented in STEM/CS may be eligible for scholarships to cover the training cost.
These workshops provide an invaluable opportunity for teachers to bring computer science education to their classrooms, equipping the next generation of students with critical 21st-century skills!
